We are happy to announce that CKFinder 3.3 for ASP.NET was released today. This represents a huge milestone in the development of CKFinder, the powerful and easy to use file manager for the Web, since version 3 will now be available with two server-side connectors: PHP and ASP.NET.

CKFinder 3 is a complete rewrite of the entire application, with new features such as full responsiveness, cloud storage support, jQuery Mobile based customizable skin system, built-in image editor and many more. Read on to see what the new CKFinder for ASP.NET has to offer!

CKFinder 3.3 for ASP.NET

The first release of CKFinder 3 for the ASP.NET connector is version 3.3 which means that it contains all features included in all versions of CKFinder 3 released up till now. From now on, the development of CKFinder 3 for PHP and ASP.NET will be running in parallel and both connectors will be the same functionality-wise. CKFinder is built on top of well-known libraries such as jQuery, jQuery Mobile, Backbone, Marionette, and RequireJS, allowing you to get familiar with it quickly.

The ASP.NET connector offers the possibility to use CKFinder 3 in an Owin application with just a few lines of code. The installation process can be done either through the ready-to-use ZIP package or with NuGet packages – which is a great option if you want to integrate CKFinder with an existing application. The modular architecture allows you to easily extend its functionality to cover the needs of your system and its users. With support for cloud-based file systems and database-based caching CKFinder can be easily integrated into local and distributed systems.

Based on the ASP.NET Framework and written with IIS in mind, CKFinder 3 is the best candidate for Enterprise solutions. Available as a ZIP package or as NuGet packages, it allows you to quickly use the file manager in your .NET environment in the most efficient way.

We would like to announce that CKFinder 3.5.1 and CKFinder 2.6.3 have just been released. We have also published new guidelines for securing your server against content sniffing by web browsers when using a public folder for uploaded files.

CKFinder 2.6.3 includes a security patch for the server-side part of the application, so updating is highly recommended. The security patch for CKFinder 2.6.3 was added to the PHP, ASP.NET, classic ASP and ColdFusion server-side connectors. Java version was not affected.

The issue that is resolved in the patch and the updated security guidelines was reported by Joshua Provoste as a problem related to handling files without extension, content sniffing, and various XSS issues to which it may lead. We would like to thank Joshua for his cooperation!

We would like to announce that CKFinder 3.4.3 for PHP and ASP.NET has just been released. This is a maintenance release that resolves a few important issues, including problems with file uploads in Microsoft Edge v42, and introduces a few other useful changes.

#CKFinder updates

The most important bug fixed in this CKFinder version is related to file uploads, which stopped working in the latest version of Microsoft Edge (v42) — see #358 for details.

Another fix of CKFinder frontend that landed in this release is related to text selection in Chrome. This was a really annoying bug that blocked text selection in various parts of CKFinder UI. For details, have look at #319.

Besides that, a few bug fixes and small features were added in CKFinder 3 connectors:

• The PHP connector received support for Unix symbolic links in the local file system backend adapter. Support for symlinks can be enabled with the followSymlinks option, as described here.
• The ASP.NET connector received a couple of updates, too:
• Fix for URL generation in backends that use the Proxy command.
• ImageProcessor library was upgraded to the latest version.
• There is now possibility to set license details per request.

We are happy to announce that CKFinder 3.4 for both PHP and ASP.NET was released today. This is the next major release for the new CKFinder 3 line that introduces a lot of new features (especially for ASP.NET), two new localizations and several performance and user experience related improvements. User Experience Improvements

This release comes up with several user experience improvements. These include adding the Compact View for displaying files in columns (not supported in IE9), adding “OK” button to information dialogs, fixed focus in settings panel when changing view type, fixed keyboard navigation for disabled context menu items and fixed drag & drop uploads on List View.
