E-Mage for Web

E-Mage for Web is a simple utility for creating html image galleries. It automatically generates thumbnails (scaled-down versions of images) and places them on html pages by a specified template. The program comes with several templates to choose from. You can edit them to fit your needs.

When you create HTML image galleries on your own, you are likely to encounter two typical problems. First, it is necessary to write multiple repeating and almost identical pieces of text (HTML code). Second, it may be hard to collect necessary data about every image – its name, dimensions, file size, etc. Templates help you to solve these problems without losing flexibilty. Using templates you can put images on an HTML page in many different ways. The template language is naturally embedded in HTML code, so you can easily create new templates from regular html documents.

If you have very large collections of photos that you would like to cram in a cloud account or a removable drive with a limited capacity, then it’s necessary to reduce image size as much as possible without losing quality.

E-Mage is an ultra-simple application that can give you a helping hand in this regard. It’s dedicated to JPG, PNG, SVG and GIF optimization. The tool features multiple optimization algorithms for these graphical filetypes, letting you choose the preferred ones.

Installing the utility takes little time since there are no special options involved in the setup. It’s wrapped in a user-friendly interface that displays three stages for running an optimization job: choosing the algorithms, picking the image files, and viewing results.

It’s necessary to set the algorithms before adding the files since they will be immediately optimized afterward. Also, you should know that the original files are processed, so there’s no way of undoing changes after the task is done.

On the other hand, choosing the algorithms is something that only advanced users are probably interested in. The default configuration grants the best optimization results anyway, since all algorithms are used by E-Mage, without any conflicts.

One or more photos can be dropped in the main window, thanks to the fact that multiple graphic files can be reduced in size in batch mode. However, it’s not possible to drop a folder but only a multi-selection of files.

Once all files are optimized, you can inspect results on the bottom size of the main window: original and new size, percentage of reduced size, and used tools. The last line shows the amount of total saved bytes and percentage.

We haven’t come across any compatibility issues with the newest Windows version in our tests. E-Mage optimized images swiftly while remaining light on system resources consumption, delivering great results.

E-Mage for Web can prove to be useful for both the novices and the experienced webmasters. With E-Mage for Web it is very simple to create your first image gallery. Just put some images into the list, choose one of the predefined templates and click the Run button to start processing.
